The Oeko-Institut e.V. is a leading independent European research organization. Founded in 1977, it develops principles and strategies for implementing the vision of sustainable development at global, national and local level. It provides research and advisory services for decision-makers in governments, industry and civil society, outlining ways of tackling the environmental challenges in an age of rapid social change and globalization. Our researchers work on more than 500 projects in the areas of Energy Transition and Climate Policy, Just Transition, Mobility Transition, Sustainable Economy, Resources Transition, Environmental Law, Agriculture, Forests and Biodiversity, Digitalization, Nuclear Power, Chemicals Management, and Sustainable Consumption. They draw upon a broad array of scientific methods and employ a transdisciplinary approach. Oeko-Institut e.V. is a non-profit association. Its financial resources come mainly from third party project-based funding.
