As enshrined in a specific law, the objecives of Sitra are to promote stable and balanced development in Finland, qualitative and quantitative economic growth and international competitiveness and cooperation by supporting, in particular, the implementation of projects that increase the efficiency of the economy, improve the level of education or research, or study future development scenarios.
As stated in its strategy, Sitra anticipates the future and seeks solutions to societal challenges together with partners. Currently, Sitra is focusing on Data and AI, Democracy and Trust, Economic growth and sustainability transition. Internationally and at EU level, Sitra strives to be a wanted and trusted partner to jointly tackle major challenges of our time.
Sitra is involved in several EU co-funded programmes. The largest is the European Union’s Circular Economy Center, whose mission is to bring knowledge and best practices on Circular Economy to the EU’s partner countries.
